Pinky Pink

Would my husband go bananas if I turned my office into a girly-girl haven?

I'm currently obsessed with the gold/champagne/pink/white color scheme. I could keep the walls mocha {the wall color we inherited from the previous home owners} since I want to wait until we get to turn that room into a nursery before I choose a color to repaint it. I already own the gold sea urchins from Two's Company that I would mount on the wall, so all I would need is the metallic hide, "A" pillow and pink bow print...

London Calling

I don't have Bieber fever. I don't get star struck when I have a celeb sighting. But I am still moderately obsessed with Will + Kate. I didn't blog about my Royal Wedding fascination, but I've still got London on the brain. The whole ordeal makes me want to hop a Virgin Atlantic flight over there, have a spot of tea and pick up some new threads at Herrods {I was escorted out of the famed department store when I was 15 years old for having holes in my jeans - I guess the queen didn't approve!}

Since I'm Polish and Russian/Ukrainian by heritage, it feels a bit lame to have any Union Jack decor in my house, but I'm loving this wing chair I spotted at the Ben Sherman shop here in LA.

This Z Gallerie rug is a bit more subtle.

Really, seriously, if I had $130,000 to spare, I totally would have bought Princess Beatrice's fascinator, which is what it went for on ebay {though I'm loyal to my ban.do hair accessories}

I could make my own with the DIY shutterfly photobooth props I saw and fell in love with on the Oh Happy Day blog {you print these and cut them out to make your own adorable fancy photo props}

I will definitely be enjoying a spot of tea and a scone this afternoon!

Modern Metallics

I love me some gold and silver goodies in interior design {see one of my favorite posts about GOLD and red} but I'm also loving the move towards more subtle metallics... like this bag below {from Garnet Hill} - a linen tote with a rich metallic sheen. Or this Serena & Lily rug, with metallic threads woven in.

World Traveler

In an ideal world, my house would be filled with goodies from my world travels - Paris, Morocco, India... but until I start racking up those frequent flyer miles, thank goodness for shops like World Market and Anthropologie... Some of my favorite Anthropologie/bazaar goodies currently on their website:

These chevron-boho-chic drapes would look amazing in a room with a flokati rug and moroccan pouf.
I have a pretty bad obsession with placemats. When getting married, I wanted to register for 500 different placemats, and my husband wanted 500 different trivets (who needs that many trivets?) If I were getting married today, I'd throw these on the registry.

This rug makes me drool. Rich color. Worn in. Looks like your uncle brought it in from abroad.

A little leopard will do ya...

I am a changed woman. Leopard-print-anything used to make me gag - it reminded me of some BAD homes I saw growing up here in LA in the '80's. Even at the tender age of 8, I knew that a room of leopard from head-to-toe was a bad thing. But I've put the 80's (and my bad 80's mullet) behind me, and I can say I love a little bit of leopard (in small doses of course)...

These stylin' ladies have helped me change my mind...

Rug Genius

I was pretty underwhelmed by this month's Elle Decor - it seems as though Margaret Russell (the former editor in chief, and now the e-i-c for Architectural Digest) has taken all her magical fairy dust with her. I didn't love any of the spreads enough to pull out any images, and the spreads all seems very disjointed - like they were trying to please too broad of an audience...

However, they DID somewhat redeem themselves by sharing that there is now an Alexander McQueen line of rugs and pillows at the Rug Company. If you love fashion and interior design, then you know this is a match made in heaven.

Alexander McQueen is a fantastic designer (who made a very sad choice last year to leave us)... I am still so enamored with his skull scarves...

The crossover to rugs and pillows is absolutely fabulous! LOVE the skull rug...

OR the gold skull pillow...
While I know we all overdid it with the skull motif about 2 or 3 years ago, I do feel like the McQueen motif is a classic.

But what really got my heart fluttering was this hummingbird rug...

Rugs for my Dream House

I'm always waxing poetic about my love for rugs - particularly the gorgeous ones made by The Rug Company. When I move into my dream house (which I will build from the ground up in Malibu), it will be filled with gorgeous goodies like the ones below. Beware: once I get my Rug Company rugs, there will be no shoes in my house!

Catalog-a-palooza: Globe Trotters

My Sunday afternoon was spent FINALLY going through the stack of interior design catalogs that accumulated while I was traveling in Costa Rica (and I promise I will post pictures of my trip as soon as I can!) West Elm, Crate and Barrel, Grandin Road, Ballard Design, Design Within Reach, Horchow, Serena & Lily, Shades of Light, some yoga clothing catalog, PB Kids, PB Teen, Chiasso, Anthropologie... The list goes on and on.

Ever since Nicole Richie started wearing her long peasant skirts and Bohemian chic garb, I've been in love with the well-traveled eclectic vibe in home furnishings. And EVERY catalog had something in that vein.

So without further ado, here are some of my favorite globe-trotting goodies.

Flokati and Mongolian Lambs Wool always scream exotic far-away haunt. These two goodies from PB Teen would be fabulous in any home (even where there are no teens!)

I wish I could be reincarnated into a time with PB Teen - my room would be decked out.

This nightstand from Serena & Lily has me drooling. Inlay is the perfect way to say "Bohemian Traveler" in your home, but the white-on-white is perfectly subtle.


This pattern brings me back to my college study abroad days with its Spanish/Moroccan design vibe.from Ballard Designs

I have moved away from a lot of the modern goodies at Design Within Reach, but this rug pulled me back in.



I love that it matches this West Elm tumbler!

West Elm had some fantastic finds for a well traveled bathroom (because who doesn't want their bathroom to look well traveled?)
