Jetsetter

As you read this, I am almost home from my weekend in Vegas!

On my last trip to Vegas, I fell for these two spaces, with hanging lights and floating glass balls...

When I go to Vegas I usually shop, eat and sun. I'm not a huge gambler. But when I found the Sex & the City slot machine, I was kinda hooked.

As you can see, I was rolling in money :)

Where I Was

I spent my Memorial Day weekend at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs - relaxing, decompressing, and watching hilarity ensue. Here are some pics I took:

While my husband and I had a fabulous time because it's always fun when we are together, the scene was a bit more MTV-Spring-Break then grown-up-weekend-getaway. The people watching was amazing {there WAS a celeb sighting - celeb blogger Perez Hilton} and the fashion choices were surprising {are thong bikini bottoms in style? because they were all over the place this weekend!}

We spent most of the weekend lounging by the pool, reading away on our Kindles, and did a bit of vintage furniture shopping but came home empty handed.

How did you spend Memorial Day weekend?

Wine and Cupcakes

This weekend my husband and I threw together a last minute getaway to Santa Barbara. We got some great wine tasting recommendations from a friend {Santa Barbara is filled with vineyards} and this one was my idea of heaven. Saarloos & Sons offers wine pairings with cupcakes. You taste each wine with a specifically paired cupcake and your mouth is a happy camper. Pretty much the highlight of a pretty spectacular weekend.

The adorable tasting house.

The interior design is spectacular. The owner's wife is a designer, who did an amazing job with the place.

LOVED the back tasting room with silhouette wallpaper. Every detail was gorgeous. Even the glass "spit bucket" to pour out your excess wine - it was the glass skull below.

I enjoyed my wine and cupcakes {the flavors included amazing goodies like Chocolate Blackberry Syrah and Strawberry Chardonnay.} The labels were stunning {the pattern was taken from the owner's grandmother's wallpaper.}

We spent half our money on wine - and the other half on home decor. There's an adorable home goods store in the front - those felted wool animal heads now live above my mantel, and if the car was bigger, I probably would have taken a canopy chair too {even though there is absolutely no room for one in my house!}

Overall, an amazing experience.

A little sunshine this weekend

Saturday started out as a Debbie Downer kind of day. My house almost flooded from the rains we are having in LA, and I spent hours (and $635) with Roto-Rooter as they cleaned out the drains in our backyard. My husband was gone all day for work. My car started to freak out and needs to be brought in to the shop. They put too much onion in my burrito. Nothing seemed to be going my way...

Until I visited Faire Frou Frou in Studio City (just a hop skip and jump away from my house.) I had read about it in Rue magazine and was equally excited to check out the decor AND buy myself a new ban.do to sport at my friend's engagement party.

I was lucky enough to meet one of the owners, Alison, who is as sweet as the store is fabulous. The whole experience brought some sunshine to my day!

I bought {this} pouf

check out the shop's ADORABLE blog (filled with all sorts of lingerie goodies.)

Blog and Ye Shall Receive!

This weekend my husband and I ventured out to the mall to pick out our Valentine's Day gifts... Valentine's Day also marks the 8 year anniversary of our first "date" (he and I worked together and both secretly had crushes on each other. I threw a Valentine's Day party for all the singles at my office, and luckily he showed up. Long story short, he asked me to go on a date two nights later and the rest is history!)

He knew he wanted to get me a fun cocktail ring, so at Nordstrom (where we encountered THE most annoying sales lady ever), I found this Kate Spade ring...
I had blogged about the cuff version for my holiday gift guide!I'll post photos when I'm wearing it next!

We then popped into Williams-Sonoma to get his gift - a Soda Stream Penguin water carbonator (that boy drinks Pelligrino like there's no tomorrow!)Can't wait to make homemade fizzy lemonades!

The kicker to the Valentine's Day gifting was that this morning, on our dog walk, he said "I got you something else, it's on its way." I pried the info out of him, because I hate suspense...

Husband: What do you like to wear?
Me: Scarves?
Husband: No, think clothes/bottoms.
Me: PJs?
Husband: Yes, and...?
Me: Jeans?
*Pause*
Me: OMG YOU GOT ME PAJAMA JEANS?!?!

I don't know if they play this in the rest of the world, but in LA we have the CHEESIEST commercial for Pajama jeans - Blue Jeans that feel like pajamas. They look fashionably hideous, but I am super excited for my silly jeans, even if I never wear them, but just giggle every time I see them in my closet... (you can see the commercial {here} at the website if you want to get matching pants with me.)

I really am the luckiest girl on Earth.

Groupon... This one's good

I was leaving a comment on Little Green Notebook's fabulous post on silhouettes and saw that someone posted a Groupon deal of Carter Kustera's silhouettes. $50 for one of his famous silhouettes (rather than the normal price of $100.)

You email him a pic of you in profile, choose your color, and come up with the custom text that he'll write beneath it. My husband has suggested "I'm my own person" for me - a phrase I used to say repeatedly when I was in nursery school. I'm still working on a good one for him... I might also want "You mess with the bull, you get the horns."

Motorcycle Mama pt 2

Given the current obsession in my house about motorcycles, I'm loving this post today from Remodelista...
Vintage Harley stacked on books? Gorgeous. But our new Harley will be too busy hitting the pavement to act as decor in our home.

Motorcycle Mama

This image from the Anthropologie catalog pretty much sums up my life right now... Two wheeled vehicles and home accessories!
In my business life I am having a great time finding goodies for my interior design clients (I found the most gorgeous candlestick from House of Honey yesterday that I cannot wait to post!)

And in my personal life... I think we are getting a motorcycle! We've been talking about it for years (well, my husband has been talking about it, and I've been saying "no!") But in Costa Rica we really talked about how life is too short not to do the things you love.

So my husband (and now I) have fallen in love with the Harley Davidson Iron 883.

Of course all I can think of are my fabulous riding outfits - I've got my eye on these Frye boots.

They remind me of this gorgeous post on ombre goodies by Cassandra of Coco + Kelley. I think that model's messy side braid is even the perfect hairdo for me to combat hair-whipped helmet hair.

On a side note, today I am attending the LTD365 Expo for Entrepreneurial Women - I'll be checking in on twitter to share any good tidbits I hear!

Comedy

It's the little things that make me laugh.

Like the sticker on the package we received yesterday.My husband's grandfather sends us some sort of yummy foodie related gift each year for Christmas - and this year's goodie was some stinkie cheese! Can't wait to enjoy it!

And yes, it does smell.
