I spent Wednesday at the Pacific Design Center and am in love with these pieces over at the Holly Hunt showroom... They are white-on-white low relief pieces - if I had any empty wall space in my house, I'd be tempted.

More dizzying for your eyes

While searching Horchow for mirrors for a client (they really have some fab selections), I came upon some abstract art that I'm liking...

My favorite - the "Mountain Flame" painting from the John-Richard collection.

It reminds me of an art piece I blogged about last year, featured in California Home + Design Mag, May 2010, in a home designed by Molly Luetkemeyer.

They also had some fabulous tips on their website about hanging art - here are some of my favorite tips:

In hallways and entries, hang wall art at average standing eye level, about 5' 6" from the floor. For a large piece, hang so the center of the piece is about 5' from the floor.

Generally, large works of art balance large pieces of furniture and vice versa, but don't be afraid to mix things up.

When grouping , wall art separate them by at least 2".

An odd-numbered grouping (3, 5, etc.) tends to be more pleasing to the eye then a symmetrical even-numbering arrangement.

Mark the wall where you want the hanger, and don't forget to account for the "drop" of the wire.

For a grouping, arrange all the pieces first on a table or floor, then sketch an outline to follow in hanging them. {I use a non-sticky tape, like drafting tape, on the wall to show where the piece will be. You could even use Post-It notes! Anything that won't peel the paint}

Lonny Shop

Why did I only just now realize that Lonny has an Etsy shop? They sell gorgeous, artistic prints from the magazine that have me drooling... If only I hadn't already filled my home's walls with mirrors, wallpaper, and enormous paintings of my dog, I'd definitely pick up one of these goodies.

Groupon... This one's good

I was leaving a comment on Little Green Notebook's fabulous post on silhouettes and saw that someone posted a Groupon deal of Carter Kustera's silhouettes. $50 for one of his famous silhouettes (rather than the normal price of $100.)

You email him a pic of you in profile, choose your color, and come up with the custom text that he'll write beneath it. My husband has suggested "I'm my own person" for me - a phrase I used to say repeatedly when I was in nursery school. I'm still working on a good one for him... I might also want "You mess with the bull, you get the horns."
