The “Elsie de Wolfe Cabinet” created by Tony Duquette for Elsie de Wolfe, Lady Mendle in 1941 |
Greetings,
It seems as if Tony Duquette and Hutton Wilkinson are everywhere I look these days. I recently had the great pleasure of seeing Hutton when he hosted a luncheon to celebrate the 120th Anniversary of SFERRA Linens at his magical home, Tony Duquette's historic residence Dawnridge. Have a look HERE for some photos of the amazing afternoon.
Fast forward to Wednesday of this week - I was in Shears and Window (one of my favourite textile showrooms in SF) - when I noticed an entire BOX of fabric samples from Jim Thompson. Hutton has been partnering with Jim Thompson for several years - and has some new treasures to add to the fabric collection . . .
Here are a few clear favourites -
"DUQUETTERIE," 100% Linen. 55 inches wide. |
"Created using Tony Duquette’s archival door panels from the famous “Elsie de Wolfe
Cabinet” These iconic carved plaster images have been mirrored and paired as a series of recurring patterns with the fantasy “Tony Duquette Foliage”. Seated and standing blackamoore figures, so beloved by de Wolfe, were repeatedly used by Duquette in his work."
