Natural Interior Design 2011

Annika Göransson is an industrial designer from the Danish Design School that focused on furniture and live in Copenhagen. The Ostrea sofa is one of her unique design sofa that has recently won a competition from the Upholstery Guild in Copenhagen. She was inspired by the 19th century’s bombastic divans and armchairs, which were richly decorated with tassels, fringes and drapes. She converted the ornaments into structures and I translated the bombastic shapes into a flowing, organic form.

This beautiful sofa furniture has been exhibited at the Danish Museum of Art and Design. At the moment and until the end of August all the furniture are being exhibited at Skagen Odde Naturcenter in Denmark. The construction of the sofa consist of a base sculptured out in dense styrofoam. The sofa is covered partly with cold foam for comfort, the woollen fabrics are glued on and sewn together by hand. The orange thread defines the flexible part of the sofa and is also hand sewn.

Let me tell you something before you’re about to see this West Hollywood Residence. This house is spectacular. Why do tell you something like this? Well, this modern residence has unobstructed views over Beverly Hills, Hollywood and Brentwood and this house has the touch of Asian here and there along in its modern architecture.

The house occupies 4500 square feet and houses 3 bedrooms, bathrooms, large kitchen and office as well as media room. The owner of this house is the Asian artifacts collector and he wants to put nice Cambodia and Thailand touches at his modern home design.

My judgment was correct that this house is the fusion of Asian and modern architect as the architecture stated that “Off the main living room, a 300+ year old monastery door from South East Asia slides open into an office and the ground floor powder room leads to a bathroom and linen closet. The powder room is defined by a long stainless steel wall mounted fixture that emphasizes a single antique Asian table with a granite basin. The windowed master bedroom includes a linear gas fireplace with a granite mantle that ties seamlessly with the 100% silk carpeting that mirrors the marbling of the granite. The luxurious master bathroom is completely inset in jade, from the floors all the way to the bathtub.”

So if you said that you can’t combine Asian style with modern architectural design, then you must closely look at this house by (fer) studio.

Simple and practical

Basically we are supporters of the more detailed designs for furniture, but we found something very simple, practical and particularly suitable for furnishing small area homes. It is remarkable how similar cabinet with rectangular sections can have different applications depending on whether it is placed horizontally or vertically, and when combined with small wheels at the bottom:

Its main advantage is that everything is within reach and easily accessible, and that gives you the opportunity to arrange your belongings to suit your personal taste and style.
